Oakwood House, Maidstone

A new Register Office for Kent at Oakwood House – opening February 2023

Oakwood House in Maidstone is currently undergoing a major renovation to offer three beautiful new ceremony rooms and will replace The Archbishop’s Palace as the county Register Office for Kent early next year.

Just a short distance from the town centre, Oakwood House is a grand Victorian mansion set amongst mature gardens and tall trees, giving couples a stunning backdrop for their wedding photographs. Wheelchair accessible with free parking, Oakwood’s three newly decorated,

contemporary ceremony rooms will include The Kentish Suite – a large ceremony room for up to 80 people, The Garden Room – a medium sized ceremony room with a terrace for up to 40 people, and The Study – a small, panelled ceremony room for up to 15 people.

Building work at the Kent County Council-owned property is set to be completed by February 2023, with the first wedding and citizenship ceremonies expected to take place from mid-February*.

All wedding and citizenship ceremonies at The Archbishop’s Palace will cease permanently from 31 December this year, with statutory appointments, such as Notices of Marriage, continuing to be available at the Palace until mid-January. The move will be complete by the end of January 2023.

To register an early interest in holding your ceremony at Oakwood House, please email ceremoniesoakwood@kent.gov.uk, and The Kent Registration Service will be in touch with more details and availability in due course.
