A total of 3.2 million households in the UK have acquired a pet since the start of the pandemic, according to the Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association, and Salomons Estate in Tunbridge Wells has seen a surge in the number of enquiries from brides looking to book pet-friendly ceremonies.
Commercial sales manager for the wedding venue, Courtney Smith, says: “For some, it’s non-negotiable. Many of the brides we speak to book with us on the basis that dogs can be present for the ceremony, photos, and drinks reception.”
Salomons Estate, which took first place in the ‘Best Events Team’ category at the 2021/22 Kent Wedding Awards has seen dogs act as ring bearers, flower girls and even groomsmen.
As well as the rise in pet involvement at weddings, the venue has identified further trends to emerge in 2022 including catering trends such as grazing tables and outdoor pizza ovens.
